* Drop-off centers: Drop-off container, always open, at Haggard Library,
2501 Coit Road. BFI Municipal Recycling Center, 4200 E. 14th St. BFI Center also takes office paper and corrugated cardboard.
* Household hazardous waste: Residents can call 972-964-4150 to arrange for a pickup of hazardous materials. Plano has a Re-use Center, 4100 W. Plano Parkway, where residents can pick up free items – such as paint, pesticides, etc. – two days a week: from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday and Saturdays.
* What’s new or next?: City recently received a grant that will be used to launch a paint-recycling program. Old paints will be mixed and redistributed as Conservation Colors. Residents can now purchase prepackaged bags of compost – called Plano Pure – from the city’s warehouse, 4100 W. Plano Parkway. The 40-pound bags are $3.
